Over the last few years, I’ve noted a slight change in the number of folks who’ve chosen to engage in less than ethical marketing practices, and quite frankly this concerns me. You see, I am an online article author and enjoy a bit of targeted traffic to my website, unfortunately my hard work is being undermined and I am now being judged due to others doing article marketing and sending people to websites which appear to be quite scammy. No not all of these sites are fraudulent, but many look as if they are. Okay so let’s talk.
The other day someone tried to explain to me that everyone has the right to post stuff online, and their marketing methods are their business, and it’s not for me to judge. Okay but, people judge me every day and I am being judged by merely being in similar categories to those who are either pulling scams or using questionable marketing practices.
Now them, I am a capitalist and a free-market guy, I have “No Problem” with a profit motivation as long as it is ethical and not deceptive. Informational Marketing has been going on for generations, in the old days people would write for the trade journals, same thing as article marketing now, just a different format and venue, philosophically it’s all the same.
Still, a good many folks who contact me and ask me all sorts of questions about online article writing or online article marketing are only looking to find short-cuts to creating tons of crappy articles and content, only to send people to their “only for AdSense websites” or sell them some BS trinket of the week.
Then there are the less-than-ethical practitioners who are making a living off selling their marketing plans to others to do the same, and I say this to all those online marketing folks out there; if you are assisting other marketers, I’d appreciate it if you would tell them to “do it right” stop scamming people, and stop using questionable marketing practices or BS style marketing. Why, well simply because it is making a mockery out of all the decent folks working their butts off to run honest businesses.
Some might say I have no business complaining, that I should mind my own business and not tell others how to run theirs. Still, with some 25,500 articles online it represents over 10,000 hours of hard work, and so I now have a vested interest in seeing that online article marketers stay legit. Please consider all this and think on it.
