I had a Ph.D. skepticism.
And my lousy bank account proved it.
Why is it that we are not taught to believe anything that comes across our path but to be skeptical and analytical? The skeptical mind never improves its situation and always find fault with everybody else’s. A skeptic believes that everyone and everything is bad and that they will somehow hurt them. The skeptical mind believes that he will be taken, yet he puts no effort to change his condition and criticizes everyone’s desire to change theirs. The analytic finds fault in everything and nothing is ever good enough for them.
The reason I know this so well is because this was me. You know I could never watch a movie and just enjoy it, I had to analyze it. And when I mean analyze I mean critically analyze. It was almost as if I was a movie critic with a degree in design and technical know-how and somehow had expertise in script writing, lighting, directing, photography, acting, marketing and editing.
I could find fault with absolutely any movie I watched even ones that cost hundreds of millions of dollars to make. I could find an uneven blending of digital and traditional film techniques. I could recognize when the voice wasn’t the real actors. I could see where the lighting should have been of a different color or when the camera should have been moved a few degrees in a different direction. I rarely enjoyed the movie and consequently neither did my wife because I kept having to point out all the faults while we were watching it.
Sadly, this is how I raised my kids and also how I approached the business world too. It’s also how I felt about network marketing.
All I saw with the shysters and hucksters and the monsters in the industry yet I was completely blind as to its potential, the morality, the fairness, and the wonderment of what it can do. I’m here to tell you that skepticism is not the way to improve your life. Belief, hope, faith, effort and optimism are. Of course we have to choose the right path and sometimes this can be disconcerting, but never give up hope and always have faith. If you make a mistake, learn from it but continue going forward. Don’t stop just because you made a slipup for there is no progress without some degree of failure along the way.
Now I know immediately that someone reading this letter who is a skeptic will point out all the disastrous consequences of the shysters in the industry. I’ve seen them firsthand and it’s the reason I was so adamantly against the industry for so many years. But I’ve come to understand that if we do a little research, desire to change our future, go forward with faith and honesty with a reputable company, lives can be changed for the better. Finances can be dramatically improved.
But it is impossible to move forward with the skeptical mind wondering if every step is the exact right thing to do. If you also have a Ph.D. in Skepticism, my opinion is it’s time to throw away the sheepskin and get a degree in belief and faith. If you see someone trying to better themselves and improve their condition, don’t be like all the negative small people who criticize those desiring a change. Give them a bit of encouragement-it will lift you a little higher.
I am feverishly working to try to repair the mistakes I’ve made with my children. I’ve taken the lessons I’ve learned in the business world and recognized the mistakes that I had made there too. Now I am moving forward in a dramatic way to change my future. I’m in love with the network marketing industry and I believe that this industry is only in its infancy when it comes to its potential impact on the financial pocketbooks of all the people the world. I am serious about that statement.
If you had a bad experience in the past, let it go. If you failed five times with other companies, look at the reasons for it but mostly look at yourself-we all the progress by the degree that we improve ourselves. What I did not realize was just how much personal growth network marketing requires to become effective and profitable. We can’t blame someone else for our mistakes and that’s what makes it the fairest industry in the world.
