Some people think that the purpose of article marketing is to sell something to the reader, this is a big mistake. The purpose of our articles in our article marketing basics system is to introduce the reader to you and direct them to a relevant page where they can get more information about the chosen subject.
The reason for this is because it is highly likely that the reader does not know you and you need to build trust with the reader before you can expect them to spend their hard earned cash.
Before you start to writing, the first step in our article marketing basics system is to keyword research. You need to target keywords with less than 20,000 competitors in Google if you want to compete effectively.
The next component of our article marketing basics system is the title.
When you have chosen your keyword, the next step is to fit your keyword into the title. If your keyword does not make sense, then maybe you need to pick another keyword.
I always think of my title as the headline. It needs to tell the reader what topic you are talking about. The headline is extremely important, because this will be the title displayed in article directories and search engine listings.
When you include your keyword, try to get it as far to the left as possible.
The third component of the article marketing basics system is the summary.
The purpose of the summary is to summarise your article. The summary needs to whet the reader’s appetite by telling them what they are going to learn when they read your article.
The summary will also appear under the title in your search engine listings, so it is important that you take the time to write a good summary and that you include your keyword in the summary.
The summary should only be about 2 – 3 sentences long and one paragraph.
The fourth component of the article marketing basics system is the body.
When it comes to article writing, the best way to write the body is to create an outline of what you need to cover. You can do this by following the template below:
Introduction – Tell the reader what your going to cover.
Make sure you write one paragraph for each point you are going to cover.
Summary – Tell the reader what they have learnt.
Your body does not need to be long, most article directories accept articles form as low as 300 words. I always try to make my body 600 words in length.
You also want to try and include your keyword once in each paragraph of your body, this will ensure that your chosen keyword is distributed throughout the body evenly which will help you with your search engine rankings.
The final component of the Article Marketing basics system is the resource box.
The resource box is your opportunity to direct the reader to your website where they can get more information.
I always keep my resource box as direct as possible. In the first sentence I tell them about my experience, and the second sentence I direct them to my website and tell them what information they will find on my chosen page.
