So many dentists give away gifts that do little to promote their business. A sticker that says, “I went to the dentist today” or “I brush my teeth” might bring a smile to a young dental patient, but does little to promote dental services at that particular office. I think dentists can do better. So I’ve put together a marketing plan for dentists that is easy on the budget, has excellent logo placement and long marketing life.
The Tooth Magnetic Picture Frame Marketing Plan
A tooth shaped magnetic picture frame can be corny or classic, depending on how its marketing is handled. If a tooth magnet frame is integrated into a dental marketing strategy, not just handed out, then it becomes a very inexpensive tool for dental business promotion.
First, don’t bother imprinting the removable middle area of a magnetic picture frame. True, the middle area of the frame removes to be used as a tooth-shaped refrigerator magnet. But I think there’s too much of a risk that it will be thrown away for it to be worth the imprint. It means the actual imprint won’t be as large, but what matters is that it gets noticed. Focus the budget on imprinting the picture frame itself, and the information will stay handy-IF you follow the next tip too.
Second, don’t hand the client an empty imprinted frame and expect it to go straight onto the refrigerator. With digital cameras and instant printing, a dental assistant or front desk secretary can take a quick photo at sign-in and have it ready, inside the imprinted magnetic frame, by sign-out. No one throws away a photo and if the photo is part of a refrigerator magnet, then onto the refrigerator it goes. The refrigerator door is top quality promotional space. The door gets opened many times a day and that means anything on it gets viewed a lot.
Third, the best use of this marketing strategy is photos of children. Some adults might put a photo of themselves inside a tooth on the refrigerator, but only if it’s an excellent picture. Children aren’t so picky about their photos, and adults like to see photos of their children around, so if time is tight, focus the picture-taking on the children before adults.
Fourth, take a moment to prepare a part of the office wall for photos. Find a spot where the lighting is bright enough and mark an X on the floor where the dental patient should stand. It won’t take much time and the preparation will help the photo turn into something worth staying on the refrigerator door for a long time.
With an included photo, a magnetic tooth picture frame becomes part of a marketing strategy that promotes a dentist’s business long after the client leaves the dental chair.
