As you head back towards the mall you will find the Treasury Casino, which is situated inside a grand old colonial building that was once the state’s treasury department.
At the weekends there is a sprawling and interesting market at Riverside in the CBD. It is a great place to wander and pick up souvenirs and many different locally produced goods. A wander around New Farm Park a little further down the river is lovely and it can be combined with a visit to the Powerhouse Museum in the park grounds, which has a great cultural schedule on offer.
