One of the questions often asked by prospects is ‘can we do network marketing online?’
The answer I would give is ‘Yes, but not exclusively’. Network marketing has always been about personal relationships and person to person referrals, you can’t achieve this solely online stuck behind a computer screen. There is no question that you still need to be prepared to do traditional network marketing, i.e. personally calling/meeting your prospects, especially those who show an interest in joining your business.
A little over a year ago I started using the internet to build my business and was under the false impression that I could run it all online and never have to talk to a soul, I was very wrong. Whilst I was able to use some powerful leverage that the web offers, I soon knew that I would still need to be calling and connecting with my prospects if I was to realise my full potential.
Building a relationship with leads is made much easier online, so is communication. What with Skype and other cheap, easy phone services there is no excuse to not call a prospect every again; wherever they are in the world! We also have videos and emails which can be written or produced just once and read/watched thousands of times. There really is some serious potential.
There is also a lot of money to be made by marketing your business online more than if you are only using offline methods. There are also marketing systems available that are all setup for you, you literally plug into the system, drive traffic to it and the magic begins.
Whats the best way to market your business online, what’s the process?
It really is quite simple
1) Your first task is to set up a marketing system, preferably one that is based on the principles of offering value to your prospects and building your primary business on the back end.
2) Web traffic (visitors) is the next thing that you need to put in place, you might need to learn some marketing skills to make this happen. Most marketing systems are set up so your visitors will go to a squeeze page, here they are offered something in exchange for their name, email and sometimes phone number
3) Your leads then start on your follow-up process, which is emails designed to deliver value and motivate them. If you’re doing things correctly and delivering good valuable information, your prospect will begin to take notice of what you are saying, and the relationship building process has begun. Whats happening is that your leads are quickly turning into a warm market of people who know a little about you and are more likely to buy from you or work with you.
4) You promote products occasionally that are useful and of good value to your prospects. Some people will start to buy from you (often on complete auto pilot).
5) You can expose your prospects to your primary business opportunity. Hold a presentation of your own and invite your prospects to attend, then follow up on the telephone with those who are interested, alternatively send them to a presentation done by your company.
It’s quite possible that during this process your prospects may actually have already called or emailed you because they want more information about your primary business. Many times I’ve gotten calls from my leads who are interested in working with me, even before I’ve had a chance to get them on a business presentation.
Network marketing online can really work well, and you can build a massive following online. It is important though to find a system that works, rather than trying to invent something yourself, that would take up way too much time and stop you from doing the most important activities, which are presenting and prospecting.
