1) Get traffic
Without traffic, you can’t survive online. You need a constant stream of new prospects and customers coming to your website, and sometimes, this can be a tough thing to do. If you’re new to internet marketing and know nothing about getting traffic, start off with one traffic strategy and use that strategy until you’ve gotten the hang of it.
There are all sorts of ways to get traffic, but I only suggest that you use at least 5 of these strategies on a weekly basis. There’s forum marketing, article marketing, video marketing, blog marketing, and even pay per click advertising. Some affiliates know how to make pay per click advertising work for them. You should make it a point to learn how to make it work for you also. Here’s another thing you need if you want to succeed with article marketing:
2) Backend sales
With most affiliate networks, they credit you with the sale but they fail to give you the customer contact information so that you can follow up on them for repeat sales. In most cases of affiliate marketing, you get no access to the customer after they buy, so you have to continue to put out new affiliate marketing campaigns just to make up for the fact that you can’t get access to the customer.
Because of this, many affiliates believe that the best affiliate marketing model is those that offer recurring charges. The best example of this is with web hosting. Every month people have to pay a fee to use the web host’s domain and website services. And if you’re an affiliate for a webhosting affiliate program, you get backend sales automatically for each month that the customer stays with the web host provider.
A company called “HostGator” has an affiliate program that is very successful. A lot of the websites that I visit I see that the HostGator display ad is shown. I’m willing to bet that they have a very successful affiliate program.
In any event, you should strive for finding a way to get backend revenue. If you can’t, then search and see if there are affiliate networks who you can be an affiliate for, and who will give you access to each customer that you generate.
