How successful do you want to be in your network marketing business?
We all say that we want to become successful right? We all want what the big players have. We want the big house, the fancy car, the vacation property, a HUGE downline! But how badly do you want it?
I can tell you right away how successful you will be in the network marketing industry. How? Show me this one thing! Your… DAYTIMER!
What did you think I meant? Your company profile; your compensation plan; your products or services; your mentor; your social marketing strategy? It doesn’t matter! Yes, all these areas are important, but they don’t mean a thing if you are not working your business.
How many people have you spoken to this week? How many appointments do you have next week? How many phone calls, how many 1 on 1 meetings, how many 3-way calls do you have scheduled? Do you have anything arranged in your daytimer?
If you want to build your network marketing business, then you have to be out there and physically talking to people. You should have at least 1 meeting, in person, every single day. All these things should be in your schedule and in your daytimer. If your days are not filled up with network marketing prospecting activity, then you will not succeed.
I think many network marketers spend too much time on activity that is not productive. Sure it may be of some importance, but it is certainly not vital to growing your network marketing business to the levels that it should be.
In Steven R. Covey’s book, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Network Marketing Professionals,” he speaks of placing network marketing activity into four quadrants, which he calls the Time Management Matrix. Now I won’t go into details about this as you can read about it in his book. The main point is to spend more of your time in Quadrant #2 which are things that are both “important and urgent.” I would tend to think that scheduling appointments with prospects fits into both these categories.
As it’s the start of a new year, start filling up your daytimer with urgent and important activity such as speaking to prospects on the phone, meeting with them for a coffee, scheduling them to attend a formal opportunity presentation, arranging a 3-way call with your upline.
Whatever it may be, start filling up your schedule. I guarantee, that if you have every day filled with productive activity, your network marketing business will grow exponentially.
