When classifying the market types by the object traded there, we can talk about currency, commodity and stock markets. Currency market involves operations with Forex currency pairs. Currency trade transactions can be conversional (exchange of a currency for another one at a certain rate) and deposit-credit (money depositing for a certain period of time at a certain rate).
Bourse (stock market, trading securities). Securities include notes, bonds, shares, checks etc. Commodity market involves commodity trading. Commodities include oil, corm, metal etc.
Stock markets consist of separate market platforms. Every stock exchange is an establishment with the purpose of easing trade with standardized CFDs. An important feature of each stock exchange is dividing into traded instruments. Thus, for example New-York Exchange a subjects for trade are crude oil, platinum and palladium, Coffee, Sugar & Cocoa Exchange carry out trading operations with correspondent commodities of different kinds. London International Petroleum Exchange carries out transactions with fuel, Brent oil.
Every bourse is a sophisticated organization with a wide network of specialized services, such as a dealing hall, headquarters of broker firms, registration offices, information services etc. Trading operations are done only during certain time periods called trading sessions. Non-stock exchange covers all kinds of transactions implemented out stock exchange hall. The majority of such deals are carried out at the interbank currency market. Interbank is a global market working 24 hours a day. The thing is that Japanese banks (Japanese trade session) are the first ones to starts working, then European markets appear to carry out trades (European session) and the trading day ends with American banks (American session). Historically at interbank market all conversional transactions with currency pairs are called Foreign Exchange Market or shortly Forex or FX.
The Forex market is assumed to be the largest, the most liquid and the easiest for availability market. That is why this type of market seems to be the best one to start with. When a trader make himself familiar with main market rules and achieves certain experience in currency trading he may start learning principles of futures and options as exchange instruments.
The term “bourse” (meaning stock exchange) has got several versions of its origins. It is originated from a Greek word byrza (purse), German “borse” and Dutch “burse”. One of the possible ways is coming from a Belgium city Brugge which is located at crossing of several important European trade routes. It used to be called “a broker for Christian cities”. There was a square called “de burse” named after a famous broker firm of mister Van de Burse.
